Since medical school Dr Bellasi has developed a strong interest in mineral metabolism abnormalities and their impact on the cardiovascular system in Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) as well as normal kidney function individuals. After various internships at University Hospitals in Spain, Sweden, and Italy, he graduated from the Medical School of the University of Milan, Italy, in October 2002. He finalized his post-graduate training in Nephrology and graduated from the University of Milan in November 2007. He attended a cardio-nephrology research fellowship at Tulane University in New Orleans (LA), U.S.A and at Emory University in Atlanta (GA), U.S.A.. Furthermore, Dr Bellasi successfully completed a master in Epidemiology and Statistics at the University of Milan in 2009. Dr Bellasi is presently serving as Nephrology consultant at Sant’Anna Hospital, Como, Italy. His current interest is cardiovascular disease in chronic kidney disease patients. He is a coauthor of more than 90 publications (84 of which listed on PubMed- H index 23; i10-index 35; citations 2096; source Google Scholar, April 11th, 2015) mainly focused on screening, imaging, prevention and treatment of vascular calcification and mineral metabolism abnormalities. Dr Bellasi is coauthor of more than 60 abstracts presented in numerous national and international meetings. Dr Bellasi has given more than 140 invited seminars/keynote presentations to a variety of academic institutes and high-profile international conferences. Since the 2012 he is one of the member of the Steering Committee of the Cardionephrology Working Group of the Italian Society of Nephrology. Since 2013 he is a board member of the Steering Committee of the Italian Society of Nephrology. Since 2013 he serves as associated editor of the Italian Journal of Nephrology (Giornale Italiano di Nefrologia- GIN) and as an Editorial Board Member of the Journal of Nephrology (JN), the Official Organs of the Italian Society of Nephrology.
